Hello. This is Willem, and my cat, Ziggy. Recently, we had quite a scare. 2 years ago, I woke up to Ziggy crying out in extreme pain, so when I took him to the vet, we found out he had a blockage in his urinary tract. We caught it early enough, so he had no long lasting issues, and the vet told me that while the chances were not high, he could re-block again. Fast forward to 3 weeks ago, he re-blocked. My girlfriend, the amazing woman that she is, is the one who noticed him straining in the litterbox. So we took him straight to the vet, and after 2 nights with a catheter in, Ziggy blocked again. At this point, our options were very limited. We decided the best choice was surgery, to significantly decrease the chances of re-blocking, by widening the opening of the urethra. Surgery was successful, and Ziggy has been home happy(other than annoyed at his cone) since the 3rd of October. However, the vet bill that we thought insurance would cover, they aren’t. As any pet owner knows, we would go to any length to keep our animal with us without suffering, but we weren’t expecting the claim to get denied.
