We need your help to save MoveFree Academy.
4 years ago we opened Movefree Academy to provide parkour instruction to our community. Along the way our classes and programs evolved, and our gym became more than a just a parkour facility. We became a home. Home to an incredible community that trusted us to provide a fun and safe environment for kids to develop physically, socially, and emotionally.
We were doing really well until Covid hit. Since Covid, We have lost 6 months of revenue and half of our crucial summer camp income, all while continuing to pay a very large rent. As if this wasn't bad enough, we just lost an appeal with the Washington State Department of Revenue and have to immediately pay back 4 years of back taxes totaling $115,000. In this appeal we had always been under the belief that parkour is an instructional discipline (much like yoga, or martial arts), and the State refused to accept us as anything but an exercise facility (like those with weights and treadmills). We just wish they told us this sooner so we could have been charging the extra tax this whole time.
This is why we need your help. We need to raise enough money to pay off the tax bill and maintain lease and insurance payments while we rebuild.
Together we can save MoveFree Academy.
Thank you,
MoveFree Management Team
