Help Us Honor Our Mother's Memory

Donation protected
This GoFundMe is created by Mariah and Breanna Trevino - Michele's daughters.

At the beginning of September, our mother came to Mariah asking to look at some sores on her mouth, which we didn't think much of at the time. She was strong, happy, & vibrant. She took such great care of her health, it was her passion to do so- to heal & thrive and also help others overcome chronic illness just as she had in the past. She lived for Jesus, talking to him every day. She fed the horses and prepared homemade meals with vibrant healing fruits and veggies. So it came as a shock to us all when she began to experience full-body pain. It was shingles. She struggled severely to eat a bite of food. She held on to her mouth as she struggled in pain to eat. She continued drinking liquids she could tolerate. She sat on the couch in pain, while she received care and spiritual support from loved ones. In the middle of September, we decided it best for Breanna to continue care, moving her from San Antonio to Breanna's apartment in Rosenburg TX (near Houston), in a more comfortable environment.

Although Breanna had begged her to eat, she could only take down a few small spoonfuls. It was clear she wasn't getting better and she became unable to stand due to her body not consuming the nutrients she needed to overcome the pain & illness. On September 30th it took a turn, she began to vomit, and her skin began to look lifeless and she could no longer walk. It was when the ambulance arrived that they announced that she was losing blood somewhere, and she would die if they didn't get her immediate care. Between blood transfusions, CT Scans, steroids, antiviral medications, us pleading for her to keep the oxygen mask on, x-rays, and what seemed like far too many blood tests, they said she had developed pneumonia in her lungs and an infection in her blood. Stating she was most likely in septic shock and had a large abscess from an infected lesion from the virus. After medications, she began coughing uncontrollably, breathing hard, and struggling in discomfort.

After what could be chalked up to be the worst night of our lives, standing beside our mother struggling in pain throughout the night, she was administered to ICU 12 hours later on October 1st, her 55th birthday. She wasn't having it with an oxygen mask or an assisted breathing machine. The doctors said it wouldn't be long until her heart gave out. They suggested sedation to put her on a ventilator so her body could fight off the infection, however, it could cause the risk of further bleeding. She had already been throwing up blood through the night. Although she initially didn't want to, we could tell she didn’t want to struggle any longer, so she agreed for them to do what it took to save her.

The image of a loved one with a tube down their throat, while their body bloats, turning yellow from the never-ending medications entering their body, all while machine alarms beep for what seemed to be every 3 minutes and receiving discouraging messages from doctors, is not the easiest thing to endure at our age of 25 and 30, or any age for that matter. We braved through, with tears and prayers, we comforted her any way we could through the process till she decided to leave her earthly body and unite with her love, Jesus, and reunite with her parents on October 4th.

We are ever so grateful for the prayers and emotional support we have received from everyone during this time. It has not been the easiest. As we endure the passing of our mother, our father's health calls for our care at the age of 78.

*Any amount raised will go to the cremation cost of our mother, bills, and her celebration of life that will be held in her birth state of Minnesota (friends & family will be notified of when this will be).

With our whole hearts, we thank you for your support ❤️
