Hi everyone, this is Mike setting up this page for my brother Jeremy. Most of you have probably heard that last week Jeremy was told by doctors that he will be having heart surgery soon, here is what he posted through facebook:
On Tuesday I went to urgent care and had an x-ray blood work and an EKG done because I had chest pain and they transferred me to the ER with an issue with my heart. I arived at the ER and was told that I had mitral valve stenosis. For the people that would like to know more about this it means one of my valves in my heart is not opening to the full extent and/or when it closes it does not close all of the way so it also leaks. So in order to fix that I will undergo open heart surgery down the road within the next 3 weeks. I hopeing and praying for a great speedy recovery after the surgery will try to post as much as I can to keep all you great caring family and friends in the know.
The other piece to this is Jeremy was scheduled to have his wisdom teeth removed, doctors are now having him move that appointment to happen soon to take care of his wisdom teeth surgery first, which will help remove the chance for infection when they complete the heart surgery.
Of course there are many unknowns right now as doctor appointments begin to be scheduled to lead up to the oral surgery and the heart surgery. We all know the elephant in the room always comes down to covering the cost of the medical expenses, the typical day to day bills and other medical related expenses for travel, lodging, etc (the heart surgery will be in the cities).
Jeremy was happy to have gone back to work last Monday to his seasonal work with Quam Construction, throughout the Winter months Jeremy and Sam have managed bills with his unemployment income and Sam's income, but he was looking forward to getting back to earning a full paycheck to help himself, Sam and Riley (1 1/2 years old) live more confortably. Jeremy was reluctant in even wanting this page setup, being the adult that he is, he wants to cover upcoming medical bills on their own, but he also realizes he has no way of knowing what to expect.
My hope is that through this page we can raise some funds to help Jeremy and Sam cover the significant out of pocket expense that will be incurred. If you are able to make contributions, know that it is Greatly Appreciated!
Please keep Jeremy in your thoughts and prayers, along with Sam, Riley and other family and friends who will be helping Jeremy over these little speed bumps so that he can get back to "normal" life!
