Hi everyone. My name is John and I am asking you for help raising the money I need to get dental surgery and implants. I was hesitant to do this, as I know that there are so many more needing and deserving causes out there, but my friends are family convinced me to try anyways. I worked for a construction company many years ago and had a light fixture swing down from the ceiling and smash right into my mouth. They sent me to one of "their" dentists and he took x-rays, then repaired what he told me was just the one damaged tooth. several months later, another tooth popped and broke apart while I was eating. I returned to the same dentist and he told me I would have to return after a year had passed as I was only entitled to 1 repair per year. I returned a year later and was told that I had waited too long, there was nothing more he could do for that claim. I went to another dentist who took x-rays and told me every tooth had been cracked. He then sent me to the first dentist to recover the original x-rays for proof that this damage was a result of the work related injury. I was first told they had thrown away my file as they had already completed all necessary work. When I asked if they were required by law to keep all files for at least 5 years, they changed their story and said my file and x-rays had been "misplaced". Without the original x-ray, there was no way for me to prove it was work related and all medical bills were now mine to bare. At least 1 tooth pops or cracks apart every year. Dentists have offered to do crowns but with the extent of damage, those crowns would just fall off as the remaining tooth below continues to crumble apart. It has been made clear that the only permanent option is to remove them all and replace them with implants.
I am in constant pain from swelling, infections or just eating and drinking.
Between the surgery, dentures, appointments, medications, time off work and travel costs between Calgary and Canmore. The final bill will be about $60,000. Although the surgery will be done in a single day, I have been told it will take between 4-6 months before it is healed enough to eat solid foods. Any help that reduces this financial burden would not just be gratefully appreciated, but also be a blessing to me and my family. Thank you all for your time and consideration. I hope to show you all the biggest smile ever once I have my new teeth!
