UPDATE: Jan.3, 2021, Emmett is still in the hospital. He is hanging in there and being a trooper but would really just like to go HOME! Kim and Zach share the feeling! He is doing ok and feeling better just still trying to get his body to clear up the last of the infection and heal. It is a day to day situation and will depend on his counts staying low on their own for enough consistent time to allow the dr.'s to release him back into the wild. Thank you to everyone that has donated and reached out to Kim and the family. It has taken a huge burden off of them!
Just a few days before Christmas, Emmett started feeling ill. It turned out to be a bad case of appendicitis. His appendix had leaked causing a very bad infection. His body is fighting hard but is not healing as quickly as they would like. He and Kim spent all of Christmas in the hospital. They do not have insurance. Zach lost his job (and their coverage for Emmett) because of COVID. Zach was recently hired at a new job but does not have coverage yet. He and Kim have also missed two weeks of work due to Emmett's hospitalization. At the moment, we do not know what their share of cost will be but it will be a struggle. COVID has wiped out a huge part of their savings. Any help towards Emmett's potential medical bills, their rent or other expenses would be greatly appreciated. Emmett will have to return to the hospital in about 8 weeks to have his appendix removed. This will create another potential hospital stay and missed work for one of both parents.
