A Family's Fight With TTP
Donation protected
As you all may know, we lost Eryn’s mom, Tracie Lewis, to an unexpected death this week. Due to a combination of comorbidities, such as end-stage renal failure and a rare blood disorder, Tracie finally succumbed to her ailments. Unfortunately for the family Tracie did not have insurance. Therefore the cost of the funeral is now the family’s responsibility. I am starting this fund to hopefully lift some of the stress and financial burden off the shoulders of the family and provide them more time (and less worry) to properly grieve and celebrate the life of a strong daughter/sister/mother/ grandmother.
Tracie’s battle began 19 years ago after giving birth to her second daughter, Jordan Calderon. The joy of the moment was short-lived, however, as Jordan was lost due to complications experienced during the birthing process. On that day, Tracie not only lost a daughter but was also hit with the shocking news that she had been diagnosed with Thrombotic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (TTP). The road to recovery began immediately and the journey would not be easy. Tracie spent multiple holidays and birthdays in-and-out of the hospital. She also missed much of her daughter’s sporting career, unable to find the strength to attend most of the events. Many days were unbearable, but she somehow found the will power to be the best mother she could be. Upon graduation from high school, Tracie was blessed with the opportunity to watch Eryn walk the stage. A couple of months later Tracie was no longer just a mother; she had become a grandmother to a beautiful baby boy named Samuel. Again, the joy would be short-lived as just when the future was looking brighter she was diagnosed with stage two kidney disease. This later led to kidney failure and after 4 years of dialysis and placement on multiple kidney transplant lists, the blood disorder continued to wear Tracie’s body down. Even after pushing many boundaries and surpassing many obstacles Tracie’s life ended on the morning of July 5, 2015.
I understand that everyone has their own financial obligations and challenges in their life, and I’m not asking that anyone donate large sums of money. But even the small amount of $1.00 would be sincerely appreciated.
