Hi, my name is Cassie and I have a unique story to share with you.
I am one of four children in my family and I am the oldest, 22 years old. Brandon is 16 years old, Alex is 13 years old and Ellie is 12 years old. Brandon and Ellie are both living with cancer, two different kinds.
Ellie is a charming and happy twelve-year-old child. Not long-ago doctors said she would not live past she was ten years old because she has astrocytoma, which is a brain cancer. So far, she has beaten the odds. She is strong, optimistic and a fighter. Recently, Ellie completed not only fifth grade which surpassed the doctor’s odds but also bravely went through proton therapy for her cancer. Ellie still has four tumors in her head and one on her spine. Ellie uses a wheelchair and has limited strength but unlimited hope.
Brandon was an otherwise healthy teenager, until one day he went to my mom after a shower and showed her some concerning skin issues. He had surgery within 3 hours of seeing a doctor who not only removed the large melanoma but a smaller one as well. The treatment he receives has left his skin very blotchy and a feast for yeast to eat the pigment.
An organization in Florida, where Ellie received her proton therapy is paying for our family to take a cruise of a lifetime during Christmastime. Carnival will be hosting us. Our family is strong but we need some help. Although the cruise is paid for, the expenses for the family to travel there are not. Ellie cannot fly, so we need to drive there. My mom needs to add 2 good tires to the truck to drive from North Carolina to Florida. We also need money for fuel. It would also be great to have some money for Ellie and Brandon to go on some shore excursions which have not been paid for.
Imagine being a child and a teen living life moment to moment and day to day. This Christmas memory is so very important to us. We even have a Santa who volunteered to come on the cruise to make it a more memorable experience. PLEASE HELP US GET THERE!
Asking for help is not easy, but I know we cannot get there and have this vacation without you. We need your help and every dollar makes a difference. Your generosity touches our hearts and helps to make a special Christmas memory that we all need.
