A Family in need.
My name is Regina Nance and I am trying to help a family in need. My friend Valvetta Jenkins is the mother of an Army verteran by the name of Sherrika Taylor. Sherrika got sick about 6 months ago in Indianapolis, IN. which is where they live. Sherrika had what she thought was a cough that would not go away, she went to the Veteran's hospital where they gave her medicine and sent her back home. The medicines were not working so she went back to the hospital and was diagnosed with pneumonia in one lung. The hospital put her on more medications that did not help, upon arriving back to the VA hospital again pneumonia had spread to both her lungs this was around the last week in February. The hospital put Sherrika on a ventilator for but had to take her off due to the fact she could not breath and eat at the same time. Sherrika's mother felt helpless because her daughter was not responding well to the medications, and for a month no one was telling Ms. Jenkins what was happening with Sherrika, so she decided to have Sherrika transferred to Indianapolis United Methodist Hospital. Sherrika was on something called Ec-mo (not sure this is spelled right) before she was transferred. Once Sherrika got to IU Methodist she was placed on the lung transplant list (end of March). Sherrika got on the list for transplant the end of March for both of her lungs, transplant took nine hours while all of this is going on Sherrika and her mom got evicted, and had to move into a hotel which is where they still are. Valvetta had to watch her daughter go through this ordeal for months. Sherrika is still not out of the woods, she has to be connected to a machine for 14 hours a day and she takes lots of different medications, and on top of all of this Valvetta was told Sherrika has a rare muscle disorder. Valvetta and Sherrika are not going to be happy I am telling this because they are such private people, Valvetta is not in the best of health herself, but I love them and I just want to help.
