Support Matthew's Battle Against Leukemia

My name is Rebecca Ulrich and something you may or may not know about our family is that we do not ask for help. However, we have had many people reach out and ask how they can help. So here I am.

My nephew, Matthew, is one of the kindest people you would ever know. He hasn’t had the easiest life as he has always had multiple ongoing medical issues that he has had to face. Despite his ongoing medical issues, he’s always happy, talkative, outgoing, and helping others when he is able. He attends church on a regular basis and serves others before he serves himself. He volunteered to be the school mascot at his high school when nobody else would and plans to continue to do this for the rest of his high school career. He is 16 years old and his next big accomplishment was to get his driver's license.

He recently started having nosebleeds and bruising from unknown causes. His mother (my sister), Charity, took him to the local hospital to get some blood work done. On 11/11/2025, our biggest fear came true. We were told that our sweet 16-year-old boy has Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia (APML). The doctors have told us that it’s an aggressive form of leukemia but one of the most treatable types. He is at a Children’s Hospital where he will remain for a minimum of 2 weeks undergoing intensive treatment. He has already had a port placed and he began chemotherapy on 11/12/2025. His chemo, radiation, and ongoing treatment will be a year-long process.

My sister is a very strong person and she will get through this. She has two children that she supports and has raised to be very good people. She would never ask for help but I will ask for her. The next year is going to be the most difficult year that my sister and my two nephews have ever had to face. If you can spare anything monetary, it would be greatly appreciated. All the proceeds will go to help this family make it through this difficult time. What we would appreciate more than anything is prayers. The power of prayer will help heal this amazing person so he can continue to grow, excel, and live a long happy life! We appreciate all your love and support!
