Many of you already know about the full-scale military invasion currently going on in Ukraine, forcing thousands of people to flee to safety. While I am among the few lucky ones currently abroad, my whole family still remains in Ukraine fearing for their safety and wellbeing. They sacrificed so much to give me a better life here in Canada and with what is going on, I can't help but feel completely and utterly helpless.

 

This is the second time my family is forced to leave their home. Back in 2014, we left all our belongings behind just in time before our house was destroyed in a military attack. It breaks my heart to see my loved ones go through this terror again. As of right now my mother and grandparents who are extremely immunocompromised are very sick, with what is most likely Covid. With no access to doctors or necessary medication, they remain in their apartment, praying that they will get through the night. Just a ten-minute walk away, lives my sister with her two young daughters (age 7 and 13). At such a young age this would be the second time they are forced to leave their house and flee accompanied by the sound of explosions.

 

I pray that my family can soon safely leave Ukraine, find a place to rest and recover properly, without having to fear for their lives every minute of the day. I am doing my best to help them in any way possible, however, there is only so much a recent graduate can do to support a big family in such a dire situation.

 

I am starting a gofundme in hopes that I can help my mother and grandparents get the proper medical care they need. I am asking for your help so my sister can evacuate with her kids and start a new life where they can finally feel safe.

My employer here in Canada has been incredibly supportive and understanding with the situation in Ukraine and has offered to match all the donations up to $5000.
