JR's medical treatment fund
Donation protected
My sister and I grew up in a small neighborhood in Manila where everyone treats eachother as family. Today we're reaching out to ask for help in behalf of one of them.
John Ryan, 23 or JR to his family and friends, was found to have a Yolk Sac tumor in February 2015. It all started with pain. Doctors thought it was hernia and that he'd have to undergo a simple surgery for repair. Into the surgery, doctors find out that it is a malignant tumor.

Since then, he had undergone numerous sessions of radiotherapy, chemotherapy, surgeries and physical therapy and diagnostic tests like MRI's, CT scans and biopsies. Currently, the cancer has metastasized to his bones and major organs. They are expecting to undergo more diagnostic tests to find out and/or to prevent the extent of metastasis.

Healthcare in the Philippines is paid by cash even by the working middle class. JR's family has exhausted their financial resources and they have done their fair share of reaching out to family, friends and Phil Health, a government controlled health coverage, for help. My sister and I are reaching out to help them fund for his next round of chemotherapy sessions scheduled for early 2018. This amount is surely not enough, considering that very limited insurance coverage is involved, but any amount is of great help.
At the time of diagnosis, JR was in college aspiring to become a music teacher. He plays the guitar and loves to share his music to the youth. He lives with his parents who have always been his strength and his 8 year old niece who never fails to make him smile. JR has an older sister working as a Registered Nurse overseas but even with all her hard work, they couldn't catch up with hospital bills.
