LETS GET THE MAN FROM MAURITIUS TO THE GAMES!

During this years CrossFit Games Open Sandy finished as the fittest man in Mauritius and has qualified for the CrossFit Games, in Madison, Wisconsin, USA!!!

To put it into perspective, out of the 133,874 individual men who took part in the CrossFit open there’s a total of 239 athletes who have earned a spot to the CrossFit games. And Sandy is one of them!

This is a huge achievement and a once in a lifetime opportunity to make his dreams come true, now we just need to get him there!

As you can imagine, the cost of travelling and competing in the USA is high and Sandy needs all the help we can give him! So lets club together and raise as much as we can to help one of the nicest, most genuine guys you could ever meet.

Any money you can raise or spare would be greatly appreciated!

Some words from the big man himself...

************************************

First of all, for those who don’t know me, my name is Sananda Chinapyel and I was born and grew up in Mauritius. I’ve lived in the UK for almost 14 years now. After what feels like a very long wait it’s has now been announced that I have qualified as the first man to represent Mauritius at the Reebok CrossFit Games in Madison, Wisconsin.

Crazy right...? I still cannot believe it and I am truly lost for words.

WHAT IT MEANS TO ME…

This isn’t just a trip to the states for a competition. It’s much more than that. It’s something that I never could’ve dreamt of. I am so incredibly proud to go and represent my country and GB as well as all my friends, my coach and every single person who for a split second believed I was ok at this fitness thing. I’m very proud to say I have achieved things over and beyond what I thought I was ever capable of over the years but this feeling is pretty much second to none for me. The little boy inside me is very happy.

My JOURNEY SO FAR…

From a young age I always had a passion for fitness, training in a small garage in Mauritius with sand filled bottles. I wasn’t allowed to join the gym until I was 15, so I had to improvise and do what I could. This has pretty much been the theme of my training throughout the years to follow!

I joined the British Army and proudly served in the Royal Engineers, whilst still serving I was introduced to CrossFit in 2015 and after a couple of years I knew I wanted to compete. I discussed this with my coach from Distinct Performance who designed an individual based training programme and my goal then was to ‘maybe’ make it to Regionals!

So we got to work but the training was never consistent for me, I took the decision to make a big career change and leave the Army after 9 years. In between finding a new home, relocating and retraining as a Crane Operator I found myself once again improvising… with my big goal looking smaller and smaller by the day. But we did what we could, worked around it and still fuelled by that same passion I am now fortunate enough to have achieved this opportunity.

Any donations would be very gratefully received and will be going towards my training, flights, accommodation and any other expenses that will support this dream.

For those who know me and would like to give your boy a little nudge, I would be forever grateful. If you’ve managed to scroll down this far, thank you for taking the time to read a little about me and what’s just the beginning of an epic journey that I’m about to start.
