Aaron's Road to Recovery
Donation protected
On February 8, 2021, Aaron was struck by a car while riding his motorcycle home for lunch. He sustained massive injuries that his doctors weren't sure he would survive. He suffered multiple breaks to his pelvis, both arms, and his jaw. He spent over two weeks in the CICU, intubated for a large portion of his time there.
With his usual grit and resilience, Aaron not only survived but has made great strides in recovering from his life-altering internal and orthopedic injuries. As of Monday, March 1, 2021 (three weeks post accident), he has had 5 major operations and numerous small procedures to repair the damage done to his body in a split second.
Aaron's recovery will be years long, and he is not expected to return to work for the six to twelve months. He will need physical and occupational therapy, surgical revisions, dental work, and months of home health care before he can even begin to sit up or walk on his own.
His wonderful partner, Morgan, has been by his side morning and night to keep his spirits high, and he will be coming home to a team of friends and family ready to walk with him down the long road of recovery.
Unfortunately, the medical bills for a weeks-long stay in intensive care, and then on a recovery floor, will add up, with or without his health insurance, and living expenses will continue to exist.
We are hoping that through this fundraiser, we will be able to help raise enough money to cover the rent on Aaron and Morgan's home for the next year while Aaron recovers and Morgan completes her Master's at UGA (something that Aaron is so proud of her for pursuing.) Anything extra will help pay for the seemingly endless medical expenses associated with a recovery of this extent. With the most immediate of his needs covered, Aaron would be able to focus on his own recovery and getting back to doing the things he loves most: working out, camping, and spending time outdoors with his Great Dane, June.
