Will Peterson vs. Colon Cancer

In early February of 2019, our friend and fellow hickory golfer Will Peterson entered the hospital for what he thought was going to be an appendectomy. When the doctors opened him up, they discovered his appendix had ruptured due to colon cancer.
Surprise.
That operation started what will surely be a long journey for Will in battling colon cancer. After that operation, it was weeks of fighting infections and other setbacks. Finally, Will got hooked up with Tampa's world-renowned Moffitt Cancer Center and his treatments began in earnest. These treatments include six months of chemo and at least one more surgery to remove the residual tumor still inside of Will. This treatment plan will take nearly an entire year.
None of this comes easy. Chemo treatments run about $17,000 each and he needs at least 12. Just to make the process a bit more challenging, Will was laid off from his job shortly after his diagnosis, which means he must now foot the bill for an expensive COBRA health care policy to keep the insurance that pays for most of his medical costs. And even with that, there are bills on top of bills for co-pays and deductibles and living expenses and more.
Fighting cancer isn't cheap.
We are seeking to raise funds for Will to cover the costs of his COBRA insurance, his co-pays for cancer treatment and other incidental living expenses. These funds are needed now and in the future, so we'll be keeping this page up and running for as long as it takes.
