Welcome to our crowdfunding page for our new ‘multi-covered sports and outdoor learning area’ at Bramfield Church of England Primary School! Woohoo!!
If you live in the village or used to attend our school, you may remember that there was once a swimming pool in our grounds. We hear many stories of those days of being freezing cold or boiling hot in that dome! The swimming pool was removed some years ago but the dome remained, although it had fallen into disrepair and was overgrown with brambles. At the end of 2019 we cleared out the brambles with the aim of using this space to create an indoor/outdoor sports area, but as soon as we had cleared the brambles, the wind had another idea and ripped the dome’s cover into pieces.
However, Covid-19 has made having a covered outdoor learning area an even greater priority as it will help us safely educate all children when local infection rates are higher, as well as those who remain in school during future lockdowns and school closures. So…we have a bigger plan!
We would like to:
· replace the domed structure with an agricultural style, semi-open-sided hay barn construction, in keeping with our rural surroundings
· lay sports surfacing over the concrete base, with a small court marked out so we could use it for a variety of sports such as basketball, football, cricket and tennis.
This project will not only benefit the children of our school, as we also hope to make the facilities available for community use outside of school hours, both for craft or nature workshops and to enable sports and social activities to continue safely while covid-19 remains a challenge.
The total cost of this project comes in at a whopping £28,320+VAT.
We have £12,000 saved towards the cost of this project. But would love to get this project underway during the summer holiday, which means we have some serious fundraising to do. We have set up this crowdfunder so that together we can quickly and easily send through any contributions we can make. Pence, pounds, big bucks, whatever you've got - it all adds up and it will all make a huge difference.
The school and Friends are applying for grants and appealing to local businesses and councils and everyone else we can think of to help us towards this target. If anyone knows of any local businesses who may donate to our cause, then please, please forward them this page and spread the word!

NB: In the event that funds raised exceed the cost of the building, equipment and associated work, they will be used to develop a vegetable garden and recently cleared Secret Garden that everyone loves so much, adjacent to the barn.
