You've Got Another Think Coming Short Film

Hi!
Our names are Annalee Dimpfel and Alexandra Dunlop and we co-wrote the short film, "You've Got Another Think Coming", for our thesis film this year and we are now in the process of taking it into production!
Logline:
After being told by her assignment partner, Ben, to “think more like a man”, a flustered investigative journalism student, Maggie Thompson, imagines herself as the male protagonist of a 1970s cop show working on their project in real-time. While in her daydream, she encounters the off-hand sexism of the 70s and struggles to define how she wants to handle herself and the case under the pressure of these gender biases.
Why we believe the film is important to share:
In a unique and light-hearted display, You’ve Got Another Think Coming showcases and alerts audiences to the fact that the patriarchal ideas of the past are still, unfortunately, present in society today.
As young women in a male-dominated industry, both Alexandra and Annalee have experienced their share of sexism in the workplace. This type of discrimination was ever-present during their time as production assistants on a television show this past summer. Through their individual and shared experiences, they’ve come to realize how often they feel pressured to conform to expected gender stereotypes and thus, their own complacency in regards to the issue.
Inspired by these experiences, they wrote You’ve Got Another Think Coming to further the conversation on gender biases. By mixing both the present-day and the 1970s era, they hope to show that while in many ways society has evolved, there is still a long way to go.
With the pandemic still looming, it was important to both Alexandra and Annalee to write a film that was ultimately light and uplifting. Thus, You’ve Got Another Think Coming is a comedy, commentating on the issue by mixing a satirical 70s style cop show with a young woman finding her voice in a male-dominated industry.
Through the protagonist’s journey, Alexandra and Annalee were able to explore a confidence they wish to find in themselves and they hope, after watching, the audience will feel the same.
