We are the Sweet Rest Missionary Baptist Church Youth Ministry in Franklinton, Louisiana under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Mallery Callahan.
We are trying to raise $25,000 for a trip to Washington D.C. for an American and African American History experience that the youth in this town of approximately 3800 residents would probably never encounter. The trip would take place in 2017. The donations would be used for travel (bus or air), accommodations and food and other miscellaneous incidentals.
The donations would be greatly appreciated before the end of the year in order to make hotel reservations and also travel arrangements. We are looking to make this trip after the kids are out for Summer.
Our youth are comprised of young men and young women who are interested in learning about African American heritage as well as American History. The trip would include visiting the new African American Museum, Washington Monument, Smithsonian, Arlington National Cemetery and other historical sites and if possible the White House.
