I have been chosen for an amazing opportunity to travel to Washington, D.C., to participate in the National Youth Leadership Forum's (NYLF) Law and CSI program for high school students this upcoming July. The unique six-day long program is for motivated students like myself, who plan to study law and enter the field in the future. The agenda includes visiting a local courthouse to observe proceedings and perform a mock trial, as well as seeing the entire judicial process in depth from the discovery of a crime to taking part in the criminal trial. Additionally, the group of selected students visits George Mason University in Washington, D.C. for a tour and is introduced to the law school trajectory. The invitation to participate in this eye-opening experience is very exciting for me because I am very interested in pursuing a career in the field of law. As a 9th-grade student at La Jolla High School, I achieved a 3.66 Grade Point Average (GPA) both semesters and as a 10th-grade student, a 4.16 weighted GPA this first semester. I have accomplished a weighted GPA by taking Advanced Placement (AP) and Honors classes. I am also a member of the school's Mock Trial Team, which is a part of the Constitutional Rights Foundation. Outside of school and Mock Trial, I have committed to working at two local establishments in my community, where I am a hostess at one and a food service associate at the other. Although I earn money at my two jobs, it isn't enough to cover the tuition of the NYLF Law program, which I would love to attend, I just need some help getting there. That's where you come in. With the help of your donation, big or small, I can get closer and closer to meeting my goal and going to Washington, D.C., where my future awaits.
