Rebecca, John and April need your help. They are facing every family’s worst fear – Mum Rebecca has been diagnosed with incurable cancer and her time is limited. We are hoping to ease some of their worries by raising funds to assist them in this most challenging of times.
At just 37 years old, Rebecca Venturi, loving mother of seven-year-old April and partner of John was enjoying family life. A few short weeks of feeling unwell and breathlessness at the smallest activity led to a diagnosis of terminal anaplastic thyroid cancer, the rarest and most aggressive form. By the time Rebecca was admitted to hospital it had already spread to her lungs. Anaplastic thyroid cancer doesn’t typically respond well to chemotherapy, however Rebecca is trialling a drug usually used to treat melanoma in the hope it slows the progression of her cancer.
The effects of the cancer and treatment means that Rebecca is now unable to work; and partner John, faces the battle of balancing the need to earn an income and also care for and spend time with Rebecca and April, and managing the household. Their income is now reduced to John’s casual wages and their savings, and the financial pressure is weighing heavily.
Please help us make a real difference for Rebecca, April and John. You are invited to donate to this appeal to assist with the costs of medical bills, petrol to get to appointments in Adelaide (from Victor Harbor), to maintain April’s activities, and to give them the capacity to have some precious time away when Rebecca’s health allows. Any un-used funds will go to Rebecca’s estate to be held in trust for April.
Your donation will send a lovely message of support for Rebecca, April and John during the most difficult time of their lives.
