Your Support Will Help Dev Win His Case w DC Govt

Hi All,
You might have heard that I’m fundraising to raise money to pay my attorney fees. This cause is very important to me because winning restores rights back to DC Government Employees, and respectability to the public employee union .
On August 24th, 2016 DC Government terminated my employment because of my AFGE union activity. After being trained as a shop steward and then being elected as Chief Shop Steward three times in one election, I represented 91 bargaining unit members and won them all except one.
It is because of this representation of employees against management that I was fired. If you’re an employee with DC Government you must first file with the Office of Employee Appeals. This is essentially a tribunal for DC Government managers to try and run interference, get their act together and try to get your case dismissed. In my case the Administrative Law Judge totally discounted my case and threw it out without giving me a trial.
Next, I appealed it with DC Superior Court and lost, appealed again to the DC Appellate Court. The DC Legal Aid Society filed a friendly brief on my behalf and agreed with me that the Administrative Law Judge abused his discretion with my case. The Appellate Court agreed and remanded {sent it back to him} in order to give me a fair trial.
Now that I’m back in OEA {Office of Employee Appeals}, the Judge has expedited the trial which is set for March 30th, 2021. I paid my attorney $1500; however, I need $7000 more in order to be represented adequately at trial in this case and presumably the next step which is DC Superior Court again.
It would also mean a lot if you could share my fundraiser link on social media. The more exposure I get, the faster I will reach my fundraising goal.
