A Call from the Belgium Independent Solidarity Group
Our friend Esila, a 22-year-old Turkish student studying in Ghent, was arrested on March 19 simply for holding a banner that read "DICTATOR ERDOĞAN". This peaceful act of protest led to her unjust detention—an alarming violation of her freedom of expression.
Esila suffers from chronic heart and kidney conditions. Shockingly, for the first 6 days of her detention, she was denied access to her essential medications. Her health has severely deteriorated; within just a month and a half, she has been hospitalized 9 times.
You can bring hope to Esila’s tomorrow. Don’t stay silent in the face of this injustice and medical neglect. Once she is released, she will need support to rebuild her life — and you can help make that possible.
Solidarity keeps us alive.
Stand with Esila. Support her. Together we are stronger.
