Joanne has worked as an occupational therapist for 26 years. She has spent her professional career helping others. Now she needs our help!

The Need

Joanne has been experiencing hip pain for a long time. She has now been diagnosed and she needs a hip operation to repair torn muscles. Her hip operation is scheduled for April 23. The recovery for this operation is three months. Now, here is the problem. As an occupational therapist, Joanne only gets paid when she is scheduled to see patients. So, if Joanne takes three months to recover from this needed operation, she will not be able to work and thus not receive any income.

Joanne Helps Others

Joanne has focused her professional career on helping senior citizens. Most of her patients are lonely and have no family connections. Her occupational therapy visits bring a lifeline to the shut in populations. Joanne’s outgoing and caring personality give the patients a sense that someone cares.

Joanne also delivers assistance to memory care patients. Clients with dementia and Alzheimer’s need a special person to reach them with occupational therapy. Recently, Joanne was helping a client try a household chore so they could be independent. It was a simple chore of how to fold laundry. Joanne said she could see the light come into her patient’s eyes as she mastered the task. The client told Joanne “Thank you for helping me feel human again.”
