Hi, my name is Megan and I'm fundraising for my sweet 7 year old nephew Lennox and my sister Melissa.

Update on Lennox's Journey - Your Support Makes a Difference!

I want to tell everyone thank you again for all the love, prayers & support for Lennox I wanted to share L’s story for better understanding & for everyone to know more of what’s going on with my little guy. ‼️Fair warning ‼️ THIS WILL BE LONG
Lennox attended VBS last week & was great, happy, healthy & playing strong with his normal spunky self. He went with his dad (Shane Sivadon) on Friday after VBS to Missouri to visit his Aunt Star.
Saturday~ I received a call Sunday afternoon while I was working from Shane saying Lennox was sick and wanted me. Lennox spiked a 103 fever with nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain on Saturday. Shane had been treating the symptoms and thought this was a viral stomach bug.
Sunday~ Lennox was still running high fevers and abdominal pain on the Left side. With Lennox asking for me Shane headed back home that afternoon & met me with L when I got off work about 630pm. As soon as I seen Lennox he looked terrible, very pale. Shane and I physically examined his tummy on the truck bed, pain ended up being left lower quadrant of his abdomen and left side. I was worried about appendicitis but this is not the normal location for pain. So we went home from there to just see how things went. We were not home long before my gut just told me something was wrong; Along with discussing this with a few medical friends. We then headed to Mercy ER. Lennox was swabbed for RSV Covid Flu all negative, chest xray was done- also negative, then we collected a urine sample. His urine looked TERRIBLE was very dark and odorous. Right then I said, well we found the problem (boy was I wrong). We were planning on discharging home with antibiotics for a UTI. Dr Nelson discussed everything with the pediatrician on call & they decided to do more work up. Lennox then received an IV, they took blood cultures, urine culture, gave him some IV antibiotics along with fluids for dehydration. Sodium was low, His urine came back with blood protein etc & was just nasty. They did an ultrasound of both kidneys to look for anything abnormal, if anything was found we would be admitted. The ultrasound read no abnormalities so we were discharged home with nausea medicine and oral antibiotics, follow up with pediatrician no later than Tuesday. Sunday night his flank pain was extremely rough along with fighting fevers.
Monday~ A lot of pain and fevers! Pediatrician was contacted and we were scheduled for 315 Tuesday afternoon.
Tuesday~ Monday night was the worst at this point, ibuprofen was only lasting maybe 2 hours for pain and fevers, Tylenol was literally doing nothing. I call his pediatrician & ask if there is any way to be seen sooner, they told us to come right then. We headed that way. Of course Lennox acted the best he had in days once we were there ‍♀️ the pediatrician stated this wasn’t a UTI bc there were no nitrates in his urine sample. With physical exam he felt this pain was being caused by colitis & the other issues were probably secondary to this. He had now received IV antibiotics in ER and was already on oral, therefore the treatment would remain the same. Managing pain the same.
Wednesday~ Tuesday night was even worse than Monday night. Watching my little boy having intolerable pain, only managed for maybe 2 hours max. Fevers still up to 103. I began to ask Lennox about going back to the ER. He was so pale and just looked sick. As I began to get him, Landon and I all ready to go i missed a call from Mercy. I immediately called them back, I was instructed to get Lennox back to the hospital as soon as possible bc his cultures had came back positive. The Nurse curse/knowing too much at times!!!!! We headed that way and were taken care of extremely quick by our ER staff. His Blood cultures and urine culture both came back positive with staphylococcus aureus; this means he had a bacterial infection in his urine and blood. Once we got there Dr Bartholomew didn’t hesitate to get another set of blood cultures, IV with fluids and antibiotics, abdominal CT. He got Lennox’s pain under control quick, thankfully. Once the CT resulted he was diagnosed with severe pyelonephritis (kidney infection) of his left kidney on top of the bacteremia. They also found micro abscesses within his kidney. Dr Norwood and Dr Lawrence were also in to check on us & ensure Lennox was doing okay. The pediatrician at Mercy felt it was best for Lennox to be sent to Children’s, nothing invasive needed done at this point other than IV antibiotics. We were then sent to Children’s in NWA.
Thursday~ Wednesday was a rough night. Again battling fevers and pain. They were giving ibuprofen Tylenol and oxycodone for his pain. He was going longer than at home though, so at times 7 hours which was a huge improvement. His belly started becoming distended so they repeated renal ultrasounds and abdominal ultrasound plus xray. His tummy was growing bc the left kidney is so enlarged it’s pushing everything else out. Day 6 of not eating but he has been doing amazing with ice water. His father & Amber came to stay with him so I could go home for the night. They also attempted to place a Foley catheter per urology, this was unfortunately failed attempts by severe different nurses.
Megan A Travis brought lunch today THANK YOU & helped us get out of the room for a bit. Lennox was happy to see here and said MEGAN I haven’t seen anyone else in months hahaha this kid
Scott O'Hern & Amy Carter Wilson thank you for being such amazing friends and literally my personal phone a doctors
Friday~ Lennox had a bad night Thursday but almost worse. Fevers were happening more frequently and medication wasn’t helping. He had to be packed down with ice packs to bring down the fever. The Hospitalist consulted ID, urology and nephrology in LR. The ultrasound now was showing micro abscesses in the left kidney as well as 2 larger abscesses and an abscess was also found on his psoas muscle. We were told Lennox needed transferred to LR for interventional radiology to place a drain. I am already in route back to Lennox at this point.
Lennox and I had an interesting chopper flight to LR lol but man do we have a story together. Shane met us there
We reached LR finally to be told he didn’t need the drain at that time. As you can imagine I was beyond unkind at this point. Thankfully Shane was there as well, so Lennox had both parents advocating for him!!!
I asked for a second opinion at this point bc that’s the entire reason we shipped and flew to LR. After speaking with the VP of patient relations, he and the attending physician escalated to the administrator on call & director of the radiology department. A second interventional radiologist looked at Lennox’s scans & agreed at this time no drain was needed, the abscesses are too small. Which yes I was beyond thankful for BUT our helicopter literally emergently landed to get us somewhere we’re doing the same treatment plan?!?!? I was extremely upset & I’m sure they thought I was THAT NURSE MOM. I did calm after the second opinion was provided.
They did transfer him to their step down unit due to him meeting red in their sepsis scale. Lauren Spigner
came to visit us tonight, she gave us loves prayers and much needed giggles
Saturday~ Friday night Lennox had the best night yet. They started giving scheduled IV Tylenol and IV toradol for pain. He slept 5 HOURS & had no pain or fevers after 9pm. Today we repeated kidney ultrasounds, they will be doing these daily to closely monitor his abscess sizes and ensure more do not develop and that they respond to IV antibiotics. Infectious disease pediatrician increase the dosage of his Ancef but does not want to change the medication, this is the best one for his infection. He had to get a new IV today but was a trooper. We finally had a set of blood cultures come back negative So that’s amazing news. Tonight we’re stopping the scheduled IV Tylenol to see if he spikes fever since he’s been on IV antibiotics for 72 hours now. We shall see and we shall pray. As I type this he’s sleeping soundly He did have a great night with giggles Aunt Brittany Kayleigh Marsh, Lynlee & UncleDaddy Kyle Marsh came to see him & bring mommy her car He was showered with tons of things but his favorite is his army bear!!! Thank you for playing with him Lynlee* He needed a friend & you were perfect sweet girl!!! He also was able to finally get a bath, first on in a week and he said it felt “ahhh this is great”
Thank you to everyone!!!! Thank you for passing thoughts, consistent prayers, overwhelming love and support! Keep my boy showered with all the things Also pray for Landon, he’s missing momma and momma is missing him! I have never been away from him overnight until this week

We greatly appreciate any support and donations to help Melissa with hospital bills and missed work so she can continue to focus on our sweet Lennox and not worry about finances.
Your continued support is invaluable to us as we navigate this challenging time. Every donation, message of encouragement, and prayer makes a difference in Lennox's journey towards health and healing.

We will continue to keep you updated on Lennox's progress and milestones. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers as he bravely faces each day with strength and resilience.

***Update from Melissa 6/15!!**
Friends & Family* I want to thank everyone for all of the thoughts, prayers and well wishes for Lennox. My little boy has shown just how truly brave & amazing he is!!! Please know, anyone can reach out- I do not mind at all & I have read most messages but do not be offended if you do not receive a response (I know y’all won’t). We are beyond blessed with so much love and support from you all Keep those prayers coming! Today was an extremely long day but I’m sure even harder for little man. I will post an update tomorrow with everything that has happened so far to catch everyone up. Today we were life flighted to Children’s hospital in Little Rock (that was an event). We flew with Angel One & thankfully had an amazing care team. Matt was our RN, Chris was our respiratory therapist & Chad was our Pilot. The helicopter did have some mechanical issues in flight with smoke/potential fire. The team noticed immediately and bc of this, Chad was able to do an emergency landing in a hay field (yes this really happened) ‍♀️ God kept all of us safe we had a wait time but they sent another helicopter to pick us up and get us to LR as quickly as possible. The sheriff in (Elkins) came to the field and waited with us, he provided waters and cooled towels off in his vehicle with water and AC to keep Lennox as cool as possible. This is just a small piece of our story for today. It is because of Chad, these men & this team that we all were safe and okay today!!!! I will always continue to pray for & think of these men moving forward, I will never forget them & I will NEVER look at a helicopter in awe again, it will always be with thankfulness & prayer for the ones flying!!!! Chad, Matt, Chris~ words can not express this mother’s thankfulness! Not only for keeping my boy safe but for all of our safety! If any friends know these men, please ensure this message gets to them & their family.
Please know this is not a common occurrence, they have been doing this for 9-11 years and this is the first time it has happened to them as well. It was equally terrifying for us all. They seen the fear in this mommas eyes and also were able to help me. Send prayers for them, their families and wives who were scared for their husband’s safety as well! God is Good

Once again, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your unwavering support and kindness.

With deepest gratitude,

Megan Travis
