Hello friends . . . .

I have been absent for a bit.

About four weeks ago . . . my life turned upside down:

I had just turned 46, and I was dealing with a crisis. A total, all around physical, mental, emotional crises. Everything came to a stop. And I have my kid, my son Rain who needs me to keep going and make everything okay for him, … for us.

I felt so grateful for all of the birthday wishes I received, all the love that came at me.. But, at the same time I was drowning in such turmoil I couldn’t even structure proper sentences to reply. The situation was so complex, sensitive and private. I felt very alone. Burned out. Overwhelmed. Helpless.

I just needed a safe space that surrounded me with peace, comfort and security… a place that would allow me to slowly grow stronger, time to think and eventually heal.

Have you ever felt like you needed that, … a place like that, when you've just felt exhausted, or lost, sad, confused, overwhelmed from all of it and needed a place to go for a bit and gather yourself and heal?

On top of that, the holidays were approaching . . . And because my family does not celebrate holidays, we could not set up a tree to put presents under for my son Rain. “Santa is going to forget about me because we don’t have a tree or a place to celebrate Christmas” he tells me.

My heart was already broken from the crisis but this…. This changed everything. And then… devastation.

Those who know me well know that owning and living in an RV has been a dream of Rain’s and mine for a while now. I couldn’t stop thinking that, if we had only had that RV. The RV that represents everything healing, and comfortable and secure, promotes joy and love. We could’ve put our little tree up and I would have recovered from surgery, and … there would have been sweetness instead of bitter and maybe I would’ve healed quicker and stronger.

I started to think of others who are experiencing their own crisis. Experiencing turmoil or a time when they NEEDED PEACE, HEALING, SECURITY, COMFORT and a LOVING SPACE.

Do you remember a time you needed a time out? A space to heal up and gather your thoughts? YOUR PLACE TO TAKE A PAUSE. Mommy time out? Daddy time out? A safe place to crash when you need to? A couples timeout? Recovering from a health issue?

That’s the dream Cherie DePalma and I have created, YOUR PLACE. I have saved for an RV that we can fix up and make into that place for Rain and I but, we want YOUR PLACE to be YOUR PLACE TOO!!! When someone needs a timeout and a little healing in their own quiet place they can request some time in YOUR PLACE and access that.

Our dream is to one day have a fleet of these little places to find refuge! It’s too late for the Christmas tree to be put up; however, YOUR PLACE needs to happen now. My crisis hasn’t passed, and I still need a place for my son and I to go for a little while. This is my ONE light at the end of THIS tunnel and hopefully will recover soon, but YOUR PLACE, this RV, has given me some joy in thinking there can be a light at the end of someone else’s tunnel after my son and I are okay. . . . I refuse to give into despair… I’m going to focus on making this dream come true.
