Your Love Takes Me Higher!

Our dear friend, a lifelong Trans Rights activist, is fending for themselves as they recover from the extensive nerve damage caused by a traumatic cardiovascular emergency. Since the days of their youth in the late 90s, they have been an active and important member of the Trans community in New Orleans and the Bay Area; bravely holding local institutions and organizations accountable since they were a teen. This includes prison activism work, by helping wrongfully jailed trans women and others get released from incarceration and re-entry work for those recently released, as well as securing safe housing for members of the Bay Area trans community. And now, after devoting many tireless years of their life to advocating for the fair treatment of queer and trans people, they are asking for a chance to rest and recover.

Increasingly, a series of compounding complications is adding stress to a situation that is already quite dire. Mounting medical bills, housing insecurity, and a strained ability to access reliable streams of income have made it nearly impossible for focus to remain on their recovery. The clearest solution lies in sustained community support, and I would like to invite you to participate in the effort.

We have a solid chance to avert an emergency that is quickly developing. This requires a sense of urgency and a sincere dedication to meet these pressing needs. Trans elders are the backbone of our community PERIOD. It is our responsibility, as witnesses to their lifetime of resistance, to help maintain stability in the lives of our legacy builders.
