As a Healthcare Professional for more than 30 years, John Roscoe Nickens III served in a multitude of Health Care Systems inlcuding serving as an executive in Louisiana, Houston, Los Angeles, San Antonio, Alabama, United Arab Emirates, India and the Phillipines. As John faced stage 4 lung cancer, he navigated the healthcare system in a new way - as a patient. During this journey, John encountered one individual that stood out among the many great caregivers - Jeff Steinbauer, MD.
Dr Steinbauer listened. He cared. He listened again. When John struggled with decisions of care, Dr. Steinbauer could always be reached. The interactions were email, text, phone and in person. The consistent message was clearly ... I care and I am available.
As such, the sons of John Roscoe Nickens III would like to honor Dr. Steinbauer in hopes that his approach could be replicated.
