Your Kids,Your Husband & Sickness

Being sick is hard. Being in the hospital is much harder. The patient is in pain and many times he doesn't even know what is wrong with him.  They draw blood, run tests and the pain is still there.  The patient suffers so much!   I cant even imagine what you go through as a family!

My cousin's husband is in the hospital.  He's been in and out for 7 months now.  He's been diagnosed with Necrotizing Pancreatitis, after long weeks of not knowing what was wrong with him after the removal of his gall bladder.. hes been in and out of the hospital.  Sometimes staying for weeks at a time.  This weekend, after being treated by specialists in San Antonio, his kidneys almost shut down.  He hasn't had a meal in months, as nothing sits well with him and his potassium levels bottomed out.   Only 10 % of his pancreas is Alive!

Hospital stays are a far cry from school plays, afterschool practices with their youngest son & UIL competitions with their middle daughter, and a long way from taking their high school daughter to Friday night football games, things we take for granted!

But they don't have a choice.  As a devoted mother and wife, how do you chose between your husband and your kids?  He's in pretty rough shape right now.  As for the kids, grandma helps, but we all know this is not the same.

As a devoted wife, My cousin is there with him 24 hours a day, sleeping in uncomfortable hospital chairs and not having decent meals herself cause she feels too guilty to eat in front of him.  Her back hurting from endless cold hospital nights and sitting at his side! But she wouldn't have it any other way.  He needs support and she's his strongest pillar.

Imagine,  the stress of being 5 hours away from your children and the financial strain this family is going through with him being the head of household? He doesn't work for weeks at a time and he still comes back with pain and weakness to try to work when he can.  This has to be a toll on the family and the budget!

We ask that you keep this family in your prayers.  Doctors can give a diagnosis, but Our Lord has the last word! I'm asking that you touch your heart and help them out! Anything helps when you have nothing! And if you aren't able to help financially, please keep this family in your prayers! Love you Luis and Miriam Caballero!
