Dog Park Mount Joy - Our Community’s Hidden Gem!

Mount Joy welcomed a beautiful dog park in 2016, yet many people have yet to hear about it. Dog Park Mount Joy, which utilizes 3 acres of the larger Rapho Township Community Park was founded and is maintained by a robust, dedicated team of volunteer dog-lovers. DPMJ is a public/private partnership, funded by membership dues and receiving zero tax dollars. Instead, the building of the park was made possible with $130K in fierce fundraising efforts over 4 years, and $60K in DCNR grants. Today, the membership dues of the 350 members keep it going, but in addition we need extra help to keep the park in tip-top shape.

This GoFundMe has two goals:

1. to raise awareness and increase membership of this off-leash playground for you and your pups

2. to help cover essential maintenance and improvement costs

The park, open daily from dawn to dusk, features separate areas for small and large dogs. At the low price of just $50 for 12 months ($25 for each additional family pup) membership fees have remained steady for nine years, and with support from GoFundMe, the goal is to continue offering this low rate. Why? Because we believe that every dog deserves a dog park that is safe, convenient and affordable where they can experience the sheer joy of running

freely, exercising and making both canine and human friends. In these tough times, even $50 may be a stretch for some families, so we also have a scholarship option for well-behaved pups and people.

Our Current Needs:

✅ Aeration, seeding & leveling for the grounds

✅ More shade - trees and/or a pavilion

✅ Updated software for membership data & keycard access

✅ Security & lighting upgrades

Budget Breakdown:

+ $17,500 income from memberships

- $10,000 annual expenditure for landscaping

- $5,000 expenditure for maintenance & computer access systems
