Jo Don Farms is a privately owned zoo in Franksville, WI which was founded in 1975 and is home to over 300 animals. Due to being privately owned, Jo Don receives no local or state funding. All expenses are typically paid with funds raised through admissions or off-site work.
Jo Don takes in many animals who have had poor previous lives. Many have never seen the sun or grass before coming here nor seen a kind hand from a human. When they are taken in, there is an unspoken promise made to the animal that their lives will be what they deserve. Every attempt is being made to hold that promise, but with the current national situation it is becoming difficult.
Before the outbreak, much of the money saved was put into improvements to better the lives of our animals such as more enrichment, enclosure improvements, and safety concerns. There was no warning that something this devastating would occur.
Due to COVID-19 Jo Don Farms has lost all revenue through June. The zoo will also not be able to open its doors on May 1st as usual. This results in no income to support the animals who have no ability to fend for themselves during this time and relying solely on your generous donations of money and feed for the animals.
The money raised will go directly to feeding the animals, maintaining normal life for them, and paying the utilities to keep them warm.
