Hello! My name is Aurora, I'm a transgender woman looking for a little help to get me and my loves out of the transphobic hellscape that is the great state of Texas. Look, Texas and I have always had a troubled relationship, but I have an unflinching fondness for Austin; it's the city that raised me, where I met my closest friends, where I met my loving girlfriend, and where my family lives. I always wanted to get out of my hometown, eventually, on my own terms, but that isn't a luxury afforded to me at this moment; our literal, physical safety here is becoming tenuous. I'd love to stay and prove them wrong, stand up against oppression, but the world has enough martyrs, and I need to watch out for my own.
So, were going to Chicago. Why Chicago? It's a safe city in a safe state, its relatively affordable, and I just plain like it. We've been talking about it on and off for a while, but our lease is up in August and were 100% certain that that's when were making the jump. We're actively searching for jobs and an apartment, and were beginning to make our rounds of goodbyes, but we have a lot on our plates. We need to pay for a uhaul, a security deposit, get some work done on our cars, feed ourselves while were between jobs, and I'm worried we don't have enough. We've seen it coming, and have saved - some - money, but we're getting by on my single income right now and my god is that money tight. Tight enough and scary enough for me to swallow my pride and come to you hat in hand, asking for your help.
If you can spare anything I will owe you everything. I'll throw in a little quid pro quo, I'll grab you some coffee from work, I'll cook you dinner, I'll try and juggle, whatever you want really. Daniel, Marley, and I appreciate every red cent you can send our way. If you're seeing this, I love you, thank you for reading this and for considering helping us.
