Help Your Fave Black Creative Pay Rent :)

Hi everyone,

I never imagined I’d be in a position where I’d need to write something like this, but here I am—reaching out with humility and hope.

After returning from winter break, I found out that I had lost my job because the USC Credit Union had used up my entire work-study allocation for the academic year without notifying me. When I went to the financial aid office to ask for help, I was told they couldn't increase my package due to university-wide budget cuts.

Since then, I’ve done everything I can to gather more aid. My family is helping where they can, and I’ve been applying to new jobs and side gigs nonstop. Still, I’m struggling to keep up with rent and am at risk of defaulting on my lease. My landlord has been understanding, but there's only so much grace she can extend.

As someone who takes pride in being resourceful and independent—especially as a creative—asking for help is not easy for me. But I’m putting my ego aside because I need support to get through this season.
