Who Are We?
We are dedicated students enrolled in the McCoy College of Business at Texas State University, passionate about the preservation and enhancement of the well-being of animals.

What is PAWS?
PAWS Shelter of Central Texas (PAWS) was founded in Kyle, Texas in 1986 as a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization providing care and love to homeless, abandoned, and abused animals in Central Texas. They are a "no-kill" shelter that believes in second chances! At PAWS, companion animals are given medical attention, care, and love for however long it takes to find a loving home.

How the Funds Will be Allocated:
Funds will go to hire professional trainers for the dogs that are part of the Adoption Ambassador Program and the Biffer Fund. Other expenses are leashes, no pull harnesses, materials for volunteer recruitment, and other supporting miscellaneous materials for the program!

Campaign ends November 26th, 2023. Donate now and change a life. Thank you for being their hero.❤️

Adoption Ambassador Program and the Biffer Fund
PAWS of Central Texas is excited to announce the launch of the Adoption Ambassador Program to increase the adoption of long-stay dogs at the Dripping Springs and Kyle Shelters. The volunteer-inspired program pairs volunteers with dogs that have been at the shelters for many months to advocate for them in the adoption process. The program includes behavior training, overnight home stays to gather more information on dog personalities, promotion of the dogs on social media, and participation in meetings with potential adopters.

Every shelter knows that the longer a dog is in the shelter environment the more likely they are to develop behaviors that make adoption difficult,” said Leslie Hutson, Director of Operations at PAWS. “This program can give each of our long-stay animals a champion who will get to know the dog better than anyone, address specific behavior training, and serve as a resource for potential adopters. Dogs with strong advocates tend to get adopted more quickly,” she added.

The Biffer Fund for Long-Stay Dogs was created to support the program with professional training. The Fund was seeded with a generous donation by a volunteer who was close to Biffer, a dog who spent most of his life in the shelter. Biffer was a favorite dog of volunteers at PAWS, but it became increasingly harder to place him because of the behavior degradation that is all too common among long-stay dogs. After his death, a group of passionate volunteers organized the Adoption Ambassador program and teamed with staff at PAWS to promote the adoption of all long-stay dogs.
