We became aware of a young man that is almost 15 becoming homeless last week when he and his dad got asked to leave the RV they were residing in off Turquoise Way in Jerome. The lady that was hosting them was told it was illegal to have them live in the RV (which is correct). We found out they had stayed two nights in their truck. We were devastated. Jeff put them up this last week at Lux Verde Hotel. They are probably going to be in the hotel for another week and a half while we get some basics taken care of with the RV. We have been able to find a new host for the RV off Del Rio. Even though it's technically illegal to reside in your RV outside of a zoned park, the family is willing to host them on the down low. We cannot find a RV Park willing to take them that allows 31 year old RV's, or has the room.

The father purchased the RV after coming out of drug rehab and this is the only home they have. It needs some repairs to make it livable for this young man. For electrical, we need to turn a 110 into a 220 which will cost approximately 1,000. The shower needs repaired and the built-in fridge has some electrical issues. We have no idea how many things we are going to find once we get it moved in the next day or two. The AC doesn't work but we are holding on repairing that until next year when it's hot again and hopefully the dad gets back on his feet and can afford the repair himself.

We have been purchasing clothes and things for the young man and we are more than happy to help him. We are also looking for donations of time, to clean the RV and make it a 'home'. The dad is a separate issue and while he will benefit, ultimately we are doing this for the young man. Any donations will be used to repair the RV and make it more of a home.
