Help Us Complete the Legacy Mural at Young Woods Elementary!

For the past 5 years, the school community has worked to bring the Legacy Mural to life at Young Woods Elementary School, honoring the impact of Sgt. Cornel Young Jr., Charlotte Woods, and B. Jae Clanton, three trailblazers who dedicated their lives to empowering the South Providence Community (see below for more information on their contributions to the community).

The great news: we have an official partnership agreement in place, and the mural is scheduled to be completed in November 2025!

The not-so-great news: we’ve hit one final hurdle. While planning, we realized that the cost of creating the mural is more than what was originally planned for. To move forward with the mural as originally envisioned—without reducing the size—we need to raise $5,000.

Your donation will go directly toward:

Renting the necessary lift equipment

Purchasing additional paint and supplies

Supporting artist fees for the extended work

Ensuring student designs can be fully realized

We’re on a tight timeline and hoping to secure funds by early-mid June. Every dollar counts—and whether you contribute financially or help us spread the word, you’re playing a part in helping our school and community celebrate its heroes through art.

Let’s finish what we started and give our students the mural they imagined and deserve.
