Our hearts are shattered. Our dear friend, Jack J. Bennett, passed away suddenly on April 23rd, leaving a void that feels impossible to fill. Jack was in the middle of a ten show run as Harold Hill in The Music Man. Harold Hill was Jack’s dream role and he was able to perform three of the ten scheduled shows. He will always be our "Music Man".
Jack and his wife Gloria helped to shape all our children’s lives at Young Stars Theatre. Their non-profit theatre has been a place for people to thrive – if one could calculate devotion, it would be measured by the thousands of kids who have been lifted, taught, nurtured, and coached to be confident performers, and even more importantly, thoughtful human beings.
There are no adequate words to explain the impact Jack’s life has had on the world. He was a mentor, a friend, a motivator, a pontificator, a teacher, a storyteller, a dog lover, a loving husband and father, a creator, a builder, an actor, a singer, a techie, and a visionary. But most of all (and yes, it bears repeating), a mentor. We want to give Gloria room to grieve, and Young Stars Theatre space to thrive, even in Jack’s absence. You can all help continue his legacy by donating here. We can’t bring Jack back, but we can make sure the spirit of everything he did lives on. All funds will be sent directly to Gloria Bennett.
