YOUNG PIGEON NEEDS URGENT AMPUTATION! Stuck in bird feeder.
Donation protected
Hi, we're Remy and Soephie, and we do small-scale pigeon rescue & rehab operation out of our house. Pierre is a young squeaker (affectionate term for pigeons that are still too young to coo) that got his leg stuck in a bird feeder. His rescuer called us upon finding him dangling upside down. After we picked him up, we realized his leg was mangled beyond saving. He is very young and otherwise healthy, and we believe that this little trooper would make an amazing pet for someone once he recovers from this life-saving surgery. He loves getting head scratches and eating peas, and is very lively despite his injuries.
Unfortunately, the vet we typically work with and receive rehabber discounts from does not have the equipment necessary to perform surgery on avians. The surgery cannot wait for risk of sepsis. We drove 2 hours to Cleveland to find a hospital that was willing and able to perform the amputation. We have included all of his medical bills from the hospitals that have seen him so far, and that is how we have come to our current total goal.
I will update on 5/14/25 after he has had his surgery, which is estimated to be an additional $800 to $1000.
