Hi, my name is Paul and two years ago I lost my son at aged 34 to suicide. As usual, there were no outward signs that this was imminent. It has taken some time to come to terms with this. Not only have I lost my son and my daughter her brother, his 6 year old daughter now faces life without her daddy.
Both my daughter and I attend a specialist bereavement group set up by our local family funeral director and tragically we have seen this group grow from 3 families to now 8 in the short space of two years.
Both myself and my daughter are trying to arrange an event for the charity PAPYRUS which is the prevention of suicide in young adults and also deals very closely with veterans of HM Forces both young and old.
We are holding a charity event on the 27th September 2025 but we desperately need funds to cover expenses. We will be holding various activities on the night to raise as much as we possibly can for the charity, however we need to cover the outlay such as venue hire etc.
We will be including many young people at this event from aged 12 upwards with a speaker from the charity in the hopes of getting the message across of prevention and to help as many families as possible to not have to go through the devastation that we have gone through, along with the other families who are part of our bereavement group. All profits will go towards keeping the helplines open for anyone who may require their services.
Any donations, no matter how big or small would be greatly appreciated to help fund this evening.
Although we are hoping to raise as many funds as possible, it is more about raising awareness and prevention.
