My name is Bailey Bevacqua, and I created this GoFundMe for my sister’s dog, Ozzy. He’s not just a pet. he’s her best friend, emotional support, and whole world. He’s only 3 years old and was full of joy, always whining with excitement and following her everywhere. But out of nowhere, everything changed.
It started with what looked like an allergic reaction his eyes were swollen shut. Then he stopped eating and drinking. He became dangerously dehydrated, anemic, and lethargic. He rapidly lost weight, couldn’t keep his balance, and developed neurological issues: body tics, limb weakness, and even facial paralysis in his forehead and eyes. Eventually, he began having seizures, random, terrifying, and still unexplained. My sister rushed him to vet after vet. He’s seen his primary vet multiple times, been to emergency care, a neurologist, and a specialist in Charleston. Now, he’s being sent back to internal medicine for more advanced testing. Despite all of this all the bloodwork, imaging, and medications we still don’t have a diagnosis.
She’s only 24, working full-time as a waitress while trying to finish school with $40,000+ in student loans. She’s already spent over $10,000 trying to save him, maxing out credit cards, missing work, and doing everything she can to fight for him. But the truth is, we’re reaching the end of what she can do alone. We need help, not because Ozzy is beyond saving, but because we’re out of resources. The only thing standing between Ozzy and the care he needs is money. And without it, she may be forced to make an impossible decision no one should have to face.
