Young mother with end-stage renal disease
May 2019 my now husband and I were driving to the court house to get married. I received a phone call with urgent lab results sending me directly to the hospital instead. At this time I was 28 years old and 5 months pregnant with my first child and they thought it was initially Preeclampsia. Due to complications I was medically transferred to UCLA Ronald Reagan (((AKA a 4 hour ambulance ride)))
2 months at UCLA total and weeks of chemotherapy, I was diagnosed with a genetic chronic kidney disease (FSGS) and nephrotic syndrome which rapidly developed into end-stage renal disease within a couple months. My mother has the same disease and has been on dialysis for years. We just never knew it was genetic until now.
The toll this renal failure has had on my body has been devastating. Im so anemic from it I needed a blood transfusion and weekly shots. Nausea and vomiting are frequent. I’m taking 6 high blood pressure meds and about 4 other meds. I struggle with having energy enough to even climb stairs. I hook up to a dialysis machine nightly for 10 hours while raising my baby full-time. My husband is now the sole provider for us and the medical bills are suffocating.
i have proof of everything if I need to provide it. I’ll do my best to include as much as I can. It feels like everything has been taken from me. My health. My body. My happiness. My life. Nothing is the same.
any extra money I will give to my mother who is near 60 years old with this same disease and still working full-time and is living paycheck to paycheck. I would love to help her out.
if you have any questions please ask.
thank you
