Help young mother regain independance after losing mobility
Donation protected
Hello, I am a close friend to Aramide, who has seen her struggles over the past 20 months. She has recently become disabled earlier this year in the spring, unfortunately the system is failing her to gain support and adaptations is a long, gruelling and often draining process.
I have seen her as a mother to 3 children, a preschooler (now just started school) and set of twins who are now over 1 years old, loose her ability to play with her children, take them out on trips to the park, be unable to take them up to bed because she cannot climb the stairs. She is living in her living room downstairs with a hospital bed, with carers visiting daily and she has found herself losing independance.
I want you to understand who Aramide is, she is a qualified midwife, someone who has always worked hard, studied and cared so much for others. Someone who upholds Christian values, shows forgiveness, kindness and patience to name only a few.
I asked permission to set up this page, as she isn't one to ask for charity, she would sooner help others. However, she has had to ask for a lot of help from friends and family over these past months and I know it is taking its toll on her and her self-esteem.
I want to be able to help Aramide gain some independance back, she is on a waiting list for considering an electric chair. She sustained an injury while in hospital to her shoulder which makes it difficult for her to push herself along for long periods and has now been diagnoised with fibromyalgia, cam impingement, hip dysplasia, bilateral sacroiliitis and axial spondyloarthritis, meaning she cannot weight bare currently. Her physiotherapy has been on hold due to her injury to her shoulder. Her recovery process will be long and if we could provide her with a means to get out and about, not stuck in her house without a 2nd person to push her while another person minds her children, this would mean the absolute world to her ❤️
I ask you to find it in your heart to support my friend to get the much needed equipment to turn her current wheelchair into an electric wheelchair using an attachment. So that she can be more present with her children, so that she can regain some independance and increase her quality of life currently.
I am raising funds so Aramide can choose between the following options (sorry they on sideways), normal wheelchair attachments are £2000 plus, but I have found 2 options for less with good reviews, so the money will be used to purchase this and insurance.
