Young mother needs cancer treatment at Regions

My name is Marta, I am a 35-year-old mother of a 10-year-old son. Despite what I struggle with, I try to live a normal life with a smile, although pain and suffering often take away my joy and keep me awake at night.

In 2000 I was diagnosed with ACC (Adenoid Carcinoma Cisticum) - adenocystic carcinoma. Originally it was located in the lacrimal gland of my eye. At the beginning doctors used several surgical methods to remove a tumor that was growing on the bones of my eye socket. In 2004, the cleaning operation (removal of the tumor along with the temporal bone) showed promise, but something started happening in the eye socket again. When I got pregnant in 2011 it turned out to be a malignant tumor, a relapse of the disease. The only solution after childbirth through C-section was resection of the entire orbital socket. Unfortunately, PET exam revealed that the cancer has spread in the lungs, pleura, rectus abdominis muscle and in the head.

In 2018, I found treatment in the USA - Immunotherapy. I traveled to Minneapolis, MN and was treated at the Regions Hospital. This type of treatment was quite successful, some changes decreased, and others disappeared. Treatment in the USA is still my hope. The disease with which I have been fighting for so many years will not go back or heal. Treatment can extend my life so I can be here, supporting my son as long as I can. I will be grateful to everyone who could help me in this difficult fight. I hope that the treatment in the USA will be successful and that I will be able to enjoy my life.

The amount I must collect includes flight to Minneapolis and medical treatments at the Regions Hospital. The Polish American community is planning to arrange accommodation for me as they did in 2018-2019. I am very grateful for the support I received from everyone in Minneapolis!
