Young mom fighting for life while son recovers at children’s
Donation protected
On Saturday, January 11th, Tiya, Roman, and Roman’s father were involved in a devastating accident under the Portman Bridge. Their car collided with a pole and was quickly engulfed in flames. By the grace of God, an 18-year-old aspiring firefighter, along with others, rushed to their aid and pulled all three from the burning vehicle.
Tiya went into cardiac arrest at the scene and was without a heartbeat for 40 minutes before paramedics arrived. Once at the hospital, she received 40 units of blood and was found to have a broken leg, pelvis, ribs, punctured lungs, a bruised liver, and a ruptured spleen. She also suffered multiple strokes, burns on her left hand, and is currently in critical condition. Her doctors have warned that if her brain swells further or if she experiences another heart attack, it could be fatal, and resuscitation may not be possible. We are asking for prayers, positive energy, and healing thoughts for this brave young mother. If she survives, her road to recovery will be long and challenging.
Roman, just three years old, was seated behind his mom. He sustained a fractured clavicle and three broken ribs, smoke damage to his lungs, a burn on his leg, and a bruised heart. While his injuries are serious, we are grateful that they are not worse, and he is expected to recover.
Tiya’s family is fortunate to have support from relatives who are traveling in to assist with her older child, who was thankfully not in the car. Financially, things are already tight for this family, and we want to ensure that they don’t have to worry about expenses during this difficult time. Donations will go directly toward supporting the children and Tiya’s recovery as they navigate the aftermath of this tragedy
