Honoring the Legacy of Karla Gomez

We are deeply saddened to share that Karla Yadira Gomez, a beloved wife, mother, daughter, teacher and friend, has passed away November 4th, 2024 after her courageous battle with cancer. Karla was a beacon of light and love for all who knew her, always putting others before herself even during her toughest days. Her infectious laughter, boundless kindness, and unwavering spirit will be profoundly missed by many. Karla was an exceptional bilingual preschool teacher that cultivated and taught over the past 18 years, she left a legacy at Southwest Early Bilingual Preschool in West Seattle where she was for 12 years. She was featured in a film on how to honor who you are, value your identity and culture.

Karla's passing has left a void in the hearts of many, especially her young children Isaac 13 years old and Joshua 7 years old and her devoted husband Martin, her parents Maria and Gilberto, brothers Gilberto Jr, Alan and Sergio. She was their rock, their comfort, and their joy. Now, as they face the world without her, they are also confronted with the daunting financial burdens that come with such a devastating loss — medical bills, funeral costs, and the ongoing needs of their family.

In honor of Karla's memory and in support of her family during this incredibly difficult time, we are reaching out to you — our community, her friends, and all those touched by her story and her love— to ask for your help. We have set up this GoFundMe campaign to raise funds that will directly support her husband and children as they navigate the future without her. Your donation, no matter the size, will help alleviate the financial stress during this period of immense grief and allow them to focus on healing and remembering the incredible woman and teacher that Karla was.

Nos entristece profundamente compartir que Karla Yadira Gómez, una amada esposa, madre, hija, maestra y amiga, falleció el 4 de noviembre de 2024 después de su valiente batalla contra el cáncer. Karla fue un faro de luz y amor para todos los que la conocieron, siempre anteponiendo a los demás a ella misma incluso durante los días más difíciles. Muchos extrañarán profundamente su risa contagiosa, su bondad ilimitada y su espíritu inquebrantable. Karla fue una maestra bilingüe de preescolar excepcional que cultivó y enseñó durante los últimos 18 años, dejó un legado en el preescolar bilingüe, South West Early Learning en West Seattle, donde estuvo durante 12 años.
