On Boxing Day, my life and my family’s changed overnight when I was diagnosed with stage 4, metastatic melanoma. Everything suddenly became about treatment, uncertainty and finding strength to navigate a healthcare system/ treatment plan (& all that comes with that) that we were unfamiliar with.

I was incredibly grateful that a neurosurgeon stepped forward to perform a craniotomy on one of my brain tumours - this opened the door for further treatment including, rounds of radiotherapy, targeted therapy and I’m now working my way through combined immunotherapy.

It hasn’t been easy but I have been incredibly fortunate to be surrounded by such wonderful friends and family, whose support has carried us through some of our toughest moments

Throughout this, I have become acutely aware of how cancer affects far more than just health. - It impacts every single aspect of family life - emotionally, practically and financially.

I have also had the humbling experience of meeting children facing cancer treatment with a level of bravery and resilience that has truly inspired me. Their courage has stayed with me and it is why I want to give something back - especially to those who need it most.

A group will be climbing Mt Snowdon on Saturday 13 June in aid of Young Lives vs Cancer, and we hope to raise £1000 to support the incredible work that this Charity does to help young people and their families through the wider impact of cancer.

if my fundraising can make even a small difference to families who need that extra support during such a difficult time it will mean everything.
