I'm Adam LaMotte, a violinist, teacher and luthier in Portland, Oregon. I am gathering support for a trip to Kenya, where I'll be working with kids and young adults, teaching them violin, and showing them some repair techniques. I'll be bringing not only instruments and bows, but also tools and manuals that they can use to fix their instruments, rehair their bows, and pretty much anything they need. There are no repair shops in Nairobi, so these budding young musicians need to be able to do these repairs themselves in order to keep learning and playing at a higher level. It was amazing to work with them in May of this year, and I'm looking to return in late November.
