Three Young Inventors...One Amazing Opportunity!
Spende geschützt
I am Jackie Fry and I teach fifth grade GATE at John Muir Elementary School in Stockton, California. My GATE students participate in many extra events throughout the year. For the first time, my students took part in a program called Invention Convention. Students worked through the engineering cycle: identifying a problem, developing a solution, and then creating a prototype for their solution. They tested their inventions and made many adaptations to improve the final prototype. In this experience, they participated in a school site convention, a Regional convention, and then the State Convention in April. THREE of my students have been invited to the National Invention Convention in Dearborn, Michigan in June. Their inventions include "Happy Hands" - a grip for gymnasts to prevent blisters and calluses on their hands, "Wrap n' Write Bracelet" - a handy and stylish bracelet that holds transparent sticky notes and mints with a tracking device to prevent loss, and "The Plant Helper" - a device that lets you know if you are over- or underwatering your plants that includes a self watering feature. The National Invention Convention in Michigan is not an inexpensive trip. Registration is $350 per student and $375 for each parent, sibling or guest. Of course, there is also airfare and hotel accommodations for these 3 families during the three day convention. I am asking for support from near and far to send these three inventors to Michigan. Months of work and success should be celebrated. Let's give them the opportunity for more success! Please give and/or share this post. Any donated funds will be distributed equally among the three students. We are on a short time frame - just 10 days before their registration is due. Please share this link with community groups or friends. Thank you!
