The McCabes are a lovely young family of four (soon to be five with baby number three due in November) who are navigating a new cancer diagnosis.

Michael was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, a cancer of the blood, toward the end of this summer. It is rare for someone as young as Michael to receive this diagnosis and has a frightening prognosis.

He is being treated aggressively with chemotherapy and radiation therapy every week. As the breadwinner of their loving family, we anticipate this will have a devastating effect on their finances as well as their daily schedule and emotional well-being.

Michael and Claire McCabe and their two daughters (ages 3, and almost 2) are residents of Newport News and live far from their respective families of Tyler, Texas and Clarkston, Washington State.

Michael works at the Newport News Shipyard and is currently on disability. Meanwhile, Claire previously worked in Smithfield at the former Main Street Restaurant prior to becoming a stay at home mother to their two sweet daughters and new baby on the way.

There will be many unknowns in their future and we would like to offer our financial support as their community as they tread unfamiliar waters.

Michael and Claire are both beloved members of Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Smithfield as well as Our Lady of Mount Carmel and St. Vincent dePaul in Newport News. The girls and Claire enjoy patronizing the Virginia Living Museum and the local libraries including Virgil I. Grissom Library where Claire partakes in the Community Writing Group.
