Islay’s Great North Run for Young Epilepsy

I love running and am really excited to be joining in with the Great North Run next month. Having been in training for this half-marathon since last September, I’m fundraising for Young Epilepsy, a cause that matters to our family as my aunt Lorna lived with this condition. The charity supports and empowers young people living with epilepsy by offering information, guidance and health services. They also pioneer research to improve epilepsy diagnosis and treatment, and campaign for the rights of children living with the condition. The wide range of services that Young Epilepsy provides are shaped and inspired by the stores of young people through their Youth Voice Network. The charity’s commitment to protecting the right for every child to have their opinions heard and taken seriously is inspiring and I can’t wait to support this very worthwhile cause.

On September 7th I’ll be running together with my friend Immy, her brother and her dad. I’m looking forward to challenging myself to run a half marathon, which is the longest distance I’ve ever run. I’m hoping for a great atmosphere on the day and to be surrounded by others who are also running in memory of friends or family members. Please sponsor me!
