Dear Friends, Family, and Kind Strangers,

- On May 26th 2024 at 2am, Our lives were turned upside down when a powerful tornado tore through our neighborhood, leaving behind a trail of destruction. A huge oak tree fell on our home, it was severely damaged and will be uninhabitable for months. My wife and I, along with our four beloved cats, now find ourselves without a place to call home and are grappling with the immense emotional and financial burden of this disaster.

On top of that our insurance company has refused to cover both the loss of use and personal property portions of our policy. This denial leaves us without the necessary funds to secure temporary housing or replace essential items lost in the storm. The insurance company is trying to say that we do not meet the definition of an "insured". But their definition of an "insured" is "you and residents of your household who are: your relatives"....

The homeowner & policy owner is our father/father-in-law, who is a direct relative and we even offered to provide them with a birth certificate if necessary, and they are still denying us. We are facing an uphill battle to rebuild our lives.

We are trying to get the insurance company to change their mind but it's starting to look like a lawyer might be our only option.

We are facing the unimaginable reality of being homeless, and we are reaching out to our community for help.
